*This is an excerpt from a VERY personal poem of mine. I've performed it a few times at slam poetry events, including the 2012 Women of the World Poetry Slam in Denver. Maybe one day I'll share it with all of you...
Poetry & Photography by Felicia Sabartinelli Excerpt from 'Blue Cape' Since I was five/six years old, I've been writing poetry or creating stories locked away in journals or sketched in school notebooks. I've never had a problem sharing stories but my biggest challenge has always been my poetry. At some point in my late teens my journals shifted from telling long drawn out stories of my days, to writing poems that described my emotions, the surroundings and what my heart could no longer describe in long conversation. In the last year, I have challenged myself "30 for 30" to start sharing a piece of my heart with everyone around and the response has been amazing! Below is a piece recently awarded and published by Write On! Stories, Essay's and Poems from Colorado, 2014. You can also view a short video of me reading the poem at the event. Stay tuned as I share more and more. Mucho thanks! ~Fe |
